Fabrication of shell-type equipment

headers, heat-exchange equipment:

  • rolling machines for plates up to 200 mm in thickness for fabrication of all types of shell-type equipment;
  • set of production equipment made by “BAВCOCK” for fabrication of headers:
— CNC 3-spindle drilling machine;
— welding machine with an option included to cut holes for nozzles;
— automatic welding machine for full penetration welds of nozzles;
    • CNC 3-spindle drilling machine “KOLB” for deep-hole drilling in tube plates up to 600 mm depth and up to 40 mm in diameter;
    • 3 jigs for fixing tubes in tube plates of heat-exchange equipment by hydraulic expanding method “HYDREX”;
    • 6 welding heads “POLISOUDE” for welding-in tubes in tube plates;
    • 3 gantry welding machines with welding heads «ESAB» for automatic submerged-arc welding to produce circumferential weld joints on shells up to 4 m in diameter and 250 mm wall thickness;
    • 2 X-raying chambers for X-raying products sized 4 х 4 х 25 meters, one of which is furnished with Betatron MIB-7,5MeV allowing for testing of welds up to 250 mm thickness;
    • helium leak testing equipment used in testing weld joints;
    • qualified hydraulic test benches for up to 50MPa (one bench is used for up to 56 MPa).


    fabrication of shell — type equipment: vessels, high-pressure drums and other shell-type equipment with a wall thickness up to 170 mm and up to 200 tons:

    • edge-planing machine with a working length up to 12000 mm;

    • edge turning machines for machining shell edges up to 3400 mm in diameter;
    • bending rolls for fabrication of shell courses made of plates up to 13000 mm long & 25 mm thick, and 4000 mm long & 1500 mm thick, respectively;
    • gas-fired furnaces with a working chamber of 5000x5000x14500 for heat treatment of workpieces, including  pulsed-flame fired furnace  with automatic control of specified heat-treatment conditions in accordance with international standard requirements;
    • gantry welding machines designed & fabricated by the Company to weld circumferential weld joints on production pieces up to 3600 mm in diameter;
    • console welding machines «Ransome» (USA) and «ESAB» (Sweden) to produce welds on shells with a diameter up to 5000 mm and longitudinal welds of up to  6000 mm long;
    • special-purpose mechanized welding plants using copper-melt backing, allowing for single-run welding of longitudinal welds on shells with a diameter up to 3600 mm and up to 4000 mm long;
    • unique electric-resistance plant KSh-108 to produce fin tubes of special type.
    In fabrication of shells, vessels, drums as well as water treatment equipment, the mechanized submerged arc welding to make longitudinal and circumferential weld joints is widely used.  The longitudinal welds on the shell-type equipment with wall thickness 24-140 mm are usually produced as single-run weld joints using electroslag welding process (the PJSC TKZ is one the developers of this welding process).
