PJSC “Krasny Kotelshchik” completed a major investment project
The Taganrog Boiler-Мaking Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” completed the modernization of the western pumping station, commissioned in 1986. The project involved the repair of the building itself and the replacement of the equipment necessary for operation of an important works infrastructure facility.
During the modernization, obsolete pumping equipment, which characterized by a high level of energy consumption, was completely replaced, as well as worn-out pipelines and shut-off valves. The facility was equipped with modern pumps with frequency converters - this solution allows to save up to 30% of the energy consumed by the units.
Today, the station includes three main pumps with a capacity of up to 219 m³/h, the head of each equals to 50 m and the power - 40 kW. The units pump water from the works reserve tanks whereto the water is supplied from the city network. The service life of the tanks has been increased due to overhaul.
To fulfill the fire safety requirements, two backup pumps are provided - they are able to quickly connect to the operation of the main units in case of a sharp increase in water consumption. At minimum flow rates, a small pumping group, also provided by the project, is used.
Another advantage is the switch of the pumping station to automatic mode. The constant presence of service personnel at this facility is no longer required - the station can be controlled remotely using an automated workstation.
