“Krasny Kotelshchik” has commissioned a painting and drying booth to be used in nuclear projects
The Taganrog Boiler-Making Works “Krasny Kotelshchik” (TKZ) has expanded its painting and drying capabilities for Nuclear Power Plant projects. Major technical upgrading process of the painting and drying booth has been completed. After technical upgrade, the booth has demonstrated higher performance and received a new name.
Now please welcome modernized painting and drying complex able to satisfy high TKZ demands in terms of equipment manufacture for the condenser set taking into consideration its growing volumes. Deep upgrade covered both technical characteristics and dimensions of the complex. For example, its length increased from 8 to 20 meters (two and a half times). To achieve this, the supporting frame and protection guards were replaced.
Another distinguishing feature of the complex is high level of process automatization. This was achieved through the special software installation, which allows for maintaining the required temperature conditions in automatic mode: 20 °C for painting process and 40-80 °C for drying process. New gas burners help to maintain the desired temperatures. A new remotely controlled 40 ton-carriage is used to deliver big-size products to the painting and drying area.
According to the fire safety regulations, a state-of-the-art automatic fire extinguishing system is provided inside the complex. To ensure compliance with the occupational health and safety rules and applicable process requirements the complex is furnished with forced-air-exhaust ventilation with filtering system capacity of 96 000 m³/h. The complex also has an individual room – so-called kitchen – for paint mixing. The kitchen was built as part of modernization process and equipped with smoke detectors and air ventilation.
Large investment project related to commissioning of the innovative painting and drying complex has a huge practical importance for TKZ. The new complex is going to achieve better painting quality that has a direct effect on reliability of corrosion protection. At the same time, drying time is reduced, thus minimizing time to deliver the finished product to the warehouse for further shipment to clients.
